Esports and Women’s soccer Interim Head Coaches hired

Marshalltown Community College Athletic Director, John Kriebs is happy to announce the addition of Esports and Women's soccer and the hiring of Interim Head Coaches for both athletic programs. MCC is happy to welcome Allie Osmundson as the Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach and Andrew Goforth as the Interim Head Esports Coach. Both sports will be launching in Fall 2022.

Osmundson brings with her coaching experience from the NCAA Division I, NJCAA, high school and club level. She currently serves as an Assistant Girls' Soccer Coach at Marshalltown High School.

Before her return to MCC, Osmundson served as a Volunteer Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at the University of Illinois (2015-2017). Her main responsibilities with the women's team included, providing on field instruction, leading small group and individual training sessions, coordinating recruitment visits, preparing opponent scouting reports and managing player wellness data.

Osmundson is no stranger to MCC soccer having previously served as an Assistant Coach for the MCC Men' Soccer Team from 2011-2014. She helped lead the team to the 2012 NJCAA National Championship and coached three NJCAA All-Americans. During that time, she also served as Head Girls' Soccer Coach at Marshalltown High School (2012-2015).

Osmundson's Head Coaching experience also includes stints at clubs in Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. She has been on soccer camp staffs throughout the United States and currently holds a USSF D soccer coaching license.

A Division I soccer player, Osmundson was a member of the Missouri State Women's Soccer team from 2005-08. She made the Missouri Valley All-Conference team three times in her career and was named team captain in 2008. She was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week twice and was recognized on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team in 2007.

Goforth is a lifelong student of gaming. Ever since his Dad took him to the Midwestern Pokémon tournament at the age of nine, he has been obsessed with playing both video games and CCG's at a competitive level.

In the early to mid-2000's, Goforth competed for the CPL team [trs] or therubysquare.com playing Counter-Strike: Source. He also took part in competitive and mythic raiding on World of Warcraft for upwards of 15 years, achieving several number 1, top 10, and top 1% parses during his tenure.

From a scholarly perspective, Andrew has presented essays at national conferences including PCA about League of Legends and different identities that come from gaming culture. He is currently working on a project that focuses on identity in the first-year composition classroom, arguing that the identity of gamers and gaming communities are becoming ever present within incoming Freshman classes and what this necessitates.

Goforth has been selected top player rankings at height including:

  • Counter Strike: Source: CPL starter
  • Halo: Western Regional Tournament Winner
  • Hearthstone: Grandmaster
  • Heroes of the Storm: Grandmaster
  • League of Legends: top 10% Support Main
  • MTGA: Mythic
  • Overwatch: Diamond – Tank / Healer Main
  • StarCraft II: Platinum 1v1; Diamond 3v3
  • World of Warcraft: Top 5 worldwide Death Knight tank parser weekly
  • World of Warcraft: Classic: Top 1% Warlock DPS parser weekly
