Tiger baseball sweeps Panthers

Marshalltown Community College baseball swept Ellsworth Community College in a double-header on Wednesday, March 24 when they traveled to Iowa Falls to take on the Panthers.

The Tigers took game one to extra innings by scoring one in the top of the eighth to hold off the Panthers. Nolan Vlcek (0-3) pitched seven innings with eight strikeouts for a no decision on the day. Brock Hatlan (1-0) closed out the bottom of the eight for his first win of the year. Three Tigers had multi-hit games with three RBI's. MCC took the game with a final score 3-2.

Huge run output and quality pitching lead the Tigers to a 14-3 win over the Panthers in game two. Sam Tyrpa (3-1) pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts. Tigers' hitters had 14 runs on 12 hits. Bryan Morales hit his 3rd home run of the year to go 3-4 on the day with three RBI's. 

MCC will host Indian Hills this weekend with games on Saturday, March 27 at 1 pm and 3:30 pm and Sunday, March 28 at noon and 2:30 pm.
