Marshalltown Community College baseball swept Iowa Lakes Community College in a 4-2, seven inning game and in a high scoring 9 inning 16-15 comeback win.
In game one, both teams were held with just one run each until a big fifth inning for the Tigers put them in the lead 4-1. They allowed the Lakers to score just one more in the 6th inning. Joe Adams led the Tigers at the plate with a triple and an RBI. Sinclair Lee had an RBI and a sacrifice fly. Carter Schellsmidt also had an RBI for MCC.
MCC led 10-6 in the second game going into the 9th inning. The Laker bats got hot, taking the lead 15-10. The Tigers fought their way back with their patience at the plate. Iowa Lakes walked three of the first four batters to load the bases.
With bases loaded, Sinclair had a base hit to score one to make it 15-11. Adams, with four hits already in the game came to the plate with the bases loaded again, hitting a grounder to third to score two making it 15-13.
Yet again bases were loaded as the Lakers walked Chase Clemons and then tied up with a two-run single by Carter Bleil. Iowa Lakes wouldn't let up striking out Jake Ulbert looking, bringing up the 10th batter for MCC in the inning.
Noah Lamphier wins it with a base hit into right driving in Clemons to give the Tigers an exciting 16-15 win! Adams had another great game at the plate with two doubles, a triple and a homerun. Ulbert had a double as well. Adams and Clemons each had a stolen base.
The Tigers will end their home games this coming weekend as they host Northeast on Saturday, April 26 with sophomore day at 12:30 following by a 1:00 and 4:00 game times. They will also play Northeast on Sunday, April 27 at noon.
