Beatrice, NE—Brooke Dunkin (Bussey, IA/Twin Cedars) and Lexie Biehl (Maquoketa, IA/Maquoketa) combined for six hits and six runs to lift the Marshalltown Community College softball team over Southeast Community College 8-1 on Friday evening. The Tigers improve to 15-11 overall and are now 3-0 on the year against the Storm.

Dunkin and Biehl, batting 1-2 in the order for the Tigers, reached base and scored in each of their first three at bats. Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) and Tacie Blunk (Boone, IA/Boone) each had two-hit games while Blunk drove in a team-high three RBI.

Sarah Wilson and Gott combined to toss a five-hitter while striking out 16 batters, including 10 from Gott, a season-high. Wilson picked up the win, her seventh of the year.

Dunkin led off the game with a walk to get things going. After stealing second, the sophomore scored on an RBI double from Biehl to put the Tigers on the board. Biehl doubled the lead on a single from Blunk. In the second inning, Dunkin singled and recorded her second stolen base before Biehl delivered another run-scoring double to put MCC up 3-0. Wilson doubled on the very next at bat to bring in Biehl and increase MCC's lead.

After a scoreless third, Kyndal Milder (Columbus Junction, IA/Columbus) opened up the fourth inning with a single. Milder, Dunkin, Biehl, and Wilson all scored consecutive runs to give the Tigers an 8-0 edge.

After relieving Wilson in the fourth, Gott came in and struck out 10 of the 16 batters she faced, including the final four outs to finish off the victory for the Tigers.

Biehl and Dunkin continue to lead the MCC offense as the two rank 1-2 on the roster in batting average, hits, and runs, respectively. The two have combined for 31.0 percent of the team's hits on the year and 26.8 percent of the team's runs.

MCC  will take on Northeastern Junior College (CO) in Beatrice tomorrow at 11:00 AM before facing Southeast again at 1:00 PM.
