The Tiger softball team picked up their first win of the 2020 season when they traveled to Kansas City Community College for a double-header on Saturday, Feb. 29. The Tigers split for the day against the Blue Devils, who are ranked #18 in the country.
Game one the Tigers got the 3-2 win in eight innings. Bailey Ashton pitched a great game pitching all eight innings and giving up only one earned run. Offensively, McKaylee Dawson went 1-2 at the plate with two walks and one RBI.
In the second game of the day the Tigers took an 8-3 loss. Dawson suffered the loss giving up eight runs on ten hits but only four of the runs were earned. The Tiger defense struggled committing six errors. Offensively, Brooke Fisher went 2-3 at the plate with a run scored and one RBI.
MCC will have a little bit of a break in play as they won't play again until Sunday, March 8 with two games on their Spring trip to Florida. They will play Mott Community College and South Suburban College.
