MCC Athletics stresses more than being successful on the court or field. With spring grades being finalized, that has never been more evident. As a department, the student-athletes earned a 3.05 GPA this spring.
Grades for both fall and spring semesters were turned into the NJCAA for consideration for Academic All-American recognition as well as consideration for individual sports being named Academic Team of the Year.
Below are the student-athletes who were recognized as Academic All-Americans. In order to be recognized as an Academic All-American, a student must earn at least a 3.6 GPA. There are three teams. Third Team members earned between a 3.6-3.79 GPA. Second Team members earned between a 3.8-3.99 GPA. First Team members earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Tiger Volleyball earned the highest GPA of the MCC athletic programs this year with a 3.62 GPA and are up for consideration for NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.

As a team, the 2018-2019 women's basketball team earned a 3.41 for consideration as NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.
Additionally the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has released the Academic All-Region Awards. There are just two Academic All-Region teams. Second team members achieved a spring GPA of 3.0-3.49 and first team members earned a GPA of 3.5-4.0 In order to be named to an Academic All-Region team, your team must be in season in the spring, so soccer and volleyball team members are not eligible.
This spring, MCC had nine athletes named to the Academic All-Region 2nd Team. They were: Bryce Vinyard (baseball), Jake Everaert (baseball), Jake Medcalf (baseball), Tyler Coleman (baseball), Walter Hernandez (baseball, Clara Solsona (WBB), Eduardo Lane (MBB), Nicolette Dabbs (softball) and Saydee Terrell (softball).
The Tigers also had twenty athletes recognized as Academic All-Region 1st Team. They were: Blake Lindsay (baseball), Diego Almonte (baseball), Eli Bergeron (baseball), Nick Hagen (baseball), Reece Blay (baseball), Ryan Carter (baseball), Tom Josten (baseball), Anna Jaumandreu (WBB), Carla Collado (WBB), Eva Carballo (WBB), Laurin Lyons (WBB), Lotte van Malsen (WBB), Whitley Ervin (WBB), Adrian Molina (MBB), Bassirou Ndiaye (MBB), Juan Coffi (MBB), Myles Broadie (MBB), Roger Guardiola (MBB), Anna Armstrong (softball) and Nell Skeath (softball).
