Marshalltown Community College baseball's Austin Gurney has been named Division I Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week for the week of March 20-26. 

Gurney, a sophomore shortstop from Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada had a great week for MCC despite the team going 1-3. He went 8 for 11 in four games for a .727 average. Locked in, he had the discipline to draw four walks as well, reaching base in 12 of 15 plate appearances.

Of his hits, he had a double and grand slam homerun. In total he had four RBI and four runs scored. Gurney is fourth among ICCAC Division I players batting .400 this season. He has two home runs, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored to date.

The Tigers are scheduled to be at home this weekend hosting Iowa Central on Saturday, April 1 at 1 and 3 pm and again on Sunday, April 2 at noon.
