MCC volleyball falls at Iowa Western

The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team traveled to take on Iowa Western on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and fell in three sets 14-25, 16-25 and 13-25. Injuries have plagued the Tigers the last several weeks putting them at a disadvantage to the bigger Reivers.

"I was proud of how the defense stepped up lead by our libero Halee Pedro who has been playing injured for most of the year," commented MCC Interim Head Coach Frank Hanes. "She and the rest of the defense awarded us a lot of digs. Halee ended with sixteen digs." The Tigers had fifty-one digs to Iowa Westerns fifty-four.

"Our two temporary middle blockers, Bojana Stekovic and Marjia Egic both stepped up and did a great job in slowing down a top 10 offense in the country. They did a great job adjusting to the speed of westerns offense and did a great job all match setting up and even scoring on a few blocks."

MCC will be traveling to Indian Hills for their next matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 pm.
