A five inning shutout has earned sophomore Diogen Ceballos (La Vega, Dominican Republic/Liceo la Romana) of the Marshalltown Community College baseball team the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Pitcher of the Week award for the second time in his career.
In a 13-0 rout of Motlow State Community College on Friday afternoon, Ceballos shut down the Bucks' offense. The sophomore struck out five batters while not allowing a run. Ceballos did not allow a baserunner until the fourth inning and finished the contest with five strikeouts.
The win improved Ceballos to 2-0 on the year, his fifth career victory as a Tiger. As a freshman, Ceballos earned both ICCAC and NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Tigers won the weekend series at Motlow, going 3-1 in Tullahoma, TN.
Ceballos and the Tigers return to action on Feb. 22 for a six-game road trip to North Carolina.
