Marshalltown, IA—Another formidable offensive attack from the Marshalltown Community College baseball team was not enough as the Tigers fell at home to Iowa Central Community College 20-10 on Tuesday afternoon. MCC drops to 16-26 on the year.
Freshman Jose Mieses (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Prepara) collected a career-high four hits in the loss. Sophomore Diogen Ceballos (La Vega, Dominican Republic/Liceo la Romana) added two hits, including a home run. Tony Salato (Knoxville, IA/Knoxville), Adam Barrett (Council Bluffs, IA/Abraham Lincoln), John Magnuson (Elk Run Heights, IA/Waterloo East), and Kaleb Hanks (Sioux City, IA/Sioux City East) also tallied two hits for the Tigers, who as a team registered 16 knocks.
Sophomore Luis Duran (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Centro de Estudio Espaillat), this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Player of the Week, went 1-4 at the plate to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

Both sides scored a pair of runs in the second inning as Magnuson and Hanks crossed the plate for the Tigers in the bottom half. Ceballos scored on an error in the third and Barrett drove in Carter Eldridge (West Des Moines, IA/Waukee) for a 4-2 lead after three.
The Tritons got to the MCC bullpen down the stretch, scoring 18 runs over the final five innings. Ceballos delivered a two-run home in the sixth and the Tiger offense attempted a late rally, scoring four runs in the seventh, but left a total of five runners stranded in the final two frames. The Tigers left a total of 13 runners stranded on Tuesday.
MCC is back in action at Southeastern Community College at 4:00 PM on Wednesday.
