With the final stages of the installation of a new soccer scoreboard being completed at the MCC soccer field, Director of Athletics, Dan Huntley shared his thoughts on the project.

"When I accepted this position in 2011, I knew one of the first major improvements to our facilities would need to be the installation of a scoreboard for the soccer program.  It was hard to believe that such a successful program was flipping numbers at a score table.  I am excited to see it lit up for the first time at our game on Saturday."

"The new scoreboard brings equity to our soccer program in comparison to our other sports who all have scoreboards at their fields or in the Student Activity Center.  Equity between sports or between our male and female student athletes drives most of the decisions I have been or am making here at MCC."

"Our soccer program has won three of the last seven NJCAA Regional XI Championships and deserves to play at a quality facility with a scoreboard.  Our on-campus playing surface is excellent and continues to develop now in its 3rd or 4th season and is under great care by grounds staff Kevin Benzing.  Kevin takes a lot of pride in the surface's playability and performance.  We can all have a little more pride in our soccer program now as the new scoreboard adds to the overall game day experience for our student athletes and our fans."

"This is an important commitment by our athletic department to our most successful program.  It can be seen as a way to set an example for hard work and success.  Sometimes you are not provided all the tools on day one of a project.  Our soccer program is a great example.  Having a fantastic field without a scoreboard was not a deterrent to success and pride but now we can showcase our facility to help recruit and retain even better student athletes to our nationally competitive program."

The Tigers will host Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opponent Indian Hills for their final home game of the regular season at 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. MCC defeated the Hills 10-0 Sept. 25.
