Men's soccer ranked No. 18 in this week's NJCAA poll

The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team appeared in the national rankings for the first time season, entering the NJCAA Division I Poll at No. 18 this week. The Tigers are currently 9-4-0 overall and 5-2-0 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play.

Despite dropping a 1-0 decision to conference foe Iowa Western Community College, ranked No 2 in this week's poll, the Tigers cracked the top 20 for the first time since MCC received votes in the final poll of the 2013 season.

The four losses for MCC have been to opponents that are currently or have been in the national rankings. The Tigers have lost twice to Iowa Western, dropped a 2-1 match to No. 9 Oakton Community College, and fell 3-2 to Johnson County Community College, ranked No. 20 at the time of the loss.

MCC has been led by returning NJCAA All-American Juan Carrillo (Cordoba, Spain/CES Lope de Vega) who ranks fourth in the nation with 10 assists, third with five game-winning goals, and 12th in goals scored with 13.

The Tigers host Indian Hills Community College at 4:00 PM this afternoon before travelling to Iowa Central Community College on Saturday.
