Marshalltown Community College soccer had two players named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athletes of the Week for the week of Aug. 29 – Sept. 5. Sophomore defenseman Hiroki Tsuda of Kogoshima, Japan and freshman Goalkeeper Ryan Flannery of Dublin, Ireland. 

The second-year standout, Tsuda helped the Tigers open the season with a big win against Scott. While holding down the defensive end, Tsuda also assisted in two goals to expand their lead to 3-0 in the first half. Although he primarily specializes in defense, that didn't stop Tsuda from getting two shots on goal and scoring one.

Opening the season in the net for the Tigers, Flannery was able to begin his NJCAA career with a shutout. He guarded the goal all 90 minutes in his first career game and stopped two shots on goal.

MCC defeated Scott 5-0 on Sept. 31 and Hawkeye 5-4 on Sept. 6. MCC will host NIACC on Sept. 10 at 1 pm for their next game.
