Tigers stumble against Central 12-4

Oskaloosa, IA—Sophomore Chezarae Garcia (Ogden, UT/Ogden) recorded two hits and an RBI, but the Tigers fell 12-4 in six innings to Central Community College-Columbus in Oskaloosa, IA on Saturday morning.

The Raiders jumped out to a 5-0 lead through two innings of play before the Tigers got on the board. Four straight players reached base to start the third for MCC. Garcia drove in Kortlan Ollinger (Robins, IA/Linn Mar) before Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle) scored on a passed ball to cut into the deficit.

Central added two more runs in the fifth before the Tigers piled two more runs on in the top of the sixth. Kayla Lopez (Tracy, CA/Merrill F. West) led off the frame with a walk and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Lauren Wolfe (Miles City, MT/Custer County). Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) also reached on a walk in the inning and scored from third on a passed ball.

The Raiders scored three more runs in the bottom half of the sixth to drop the Tigers.

The Tigers drew nine walks in the game, including three from Ghee and two to Lopez.

MCC returns home for back-to-back doubleheaders, beginning Monday afternoon with two games against Ellsworth Community College. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
