Emerick signs with University of Minnesota Crookston

Marshalltown Community College softball's Reagan Emerick has signed with DII University of Minnesota Crookston to continue her athletic and academic career after she graduates from MCC this Spring 2022.

Emerick verbally committed several weeks ago to UM Crookston but officially signed on Wednesday, Feb. 9. After taking a visit during the winter break, Emerick knew that this was the place for her. She loved the campus, town and coaches. She plans to continue play at the short stop position as she has been at MCC.

When asked about her time at MCC and with the softball team she said, "We have had our ups and downs but I'm excited to see what this year's team can do. I have loved the people at MCC! It is such a tight community. Whether they know me or not they are always there for me."

The coaches at MCC have helped Emerick improve her game and specifically her hitting. "When I started at MCC I was just learning to slap the ball. Coach Steinfeldt has helped me with the swing aspect and Coach Jones has helped me with the mental aspect of my game. I am a stronger player now from when I first game to MCC."

Emerick has earned Academic All-Region honors every semester she has been at MCC. She also received 2nd Team All-Region Spring 2021.

When asked about Emerick as a player, MCC Head Coach Russ Jones commented, "Reagan has really matured and learned what it truly takes to be successful at the collegiate level. She is a leader on the team and will be a big part of our success this spring."

Jones believes that UM Crookston will be a great fit for Emerick both academically and in their softball program and believes that she will be able to help them build a winning tradition. He realizes how much Emerick has also brought to the MCC program. "Saying goodbye to Reagan this spring will be difficult.  She has brought a ton of talent, energy, positivity, and joy to MCC and Tiger Softball. However, I am very excited for her future.  I look forward to following her career."

Emerick is originally from Macomb, IL.
