Freshman Jamerka Martin (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) of the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team has been honored as this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Offensive Player of the Week.
Martin helped the Tigers get off to a 2-0 start last week, scoring a team-high 16 points en route to a 77-50 victory over Grand View JV. The rookie connected on 4-6 attempts from three-point range to pace the Tiger offense. Martin came off the bench in the second half to score 13 points, hitting all three three-point shots.
In the first two games of her college career, Martin has hit six three-point shots and is shooting 54 percent from long range.
Martin and the Tigers travel to Moberly, MO this week for the Moberly Area Community College Tournament. MCC will take on John Wood Community College at 5:00 PM on Friday and Southeastern Illinois Community College at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
