Tigers roll to fifth straight win with 77-42 win over Penn-Valley

Kansas City, MO—For the second straight day the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team recorded a 30-plus point win as the Tigers defeated MCC-Penny Valley 77-42 on Saturday. The Tigers finished play at the MCC-Penn Valley Classic 2-0 after defeating Lewis & Clark Community College 73-38 on Friday.

Kaleigh Sieck (Toldeo, IA/South Tama) provided her biggest game of her young career as the freshman recorded a career-high 21 points, knocking down three three-point shots and all six of her free throws. The rookie also posted a career-high nine rebounds in the victory. Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) joined Sieck in double digits with 13 points to go along with 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year.

The Tigers got off to a strong start thanks to the post presence of Gott as the sophomore scored six of the team's first 12 points. Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) hit back-to-back layups to give the Tigers a 19-7 advantage. MCC continued to find its scoring touch throughout the first half as Sieck helped the Tigers build on their lead. The freshman hit two of MCC's three threes in the final five minutes of play to give the Tigers a 49-19 lead at the break.

Gott hit two straight shots to open the second half as the Tiger defensive held its opponent to just one field goal in the first four minutes of action. Penn-Valley went on a quick 10-0 run midway through the second half to gain some momentum until Ashley Salgado (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) scored four straight points to halt the run and cruise to their fifth straight win.

The Tigers recorded a season-high 68 rebounds, including 17 on the offensive glass on the day compared to just 32 total rebounds for Penn-Valley. Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) contributed 10 boards on the day and Danielle Montgomery (Beaman, IA/BCLUW) came up with nine. Salgado controlled the offense for the majority of the day, racking up six assists to go along with six rebounds.

In their five game win streak, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 392-262, holding the opposition to just 52.4 points per game.

Next up for the Tigers will be a trip to the North Central Missouri College Tournament where MCC will take on Ancilla College on Dec. 6 and host NCMC on Dec. 7
