Marshalltown Community College's Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball teams have been named NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year after posting cumulative grade point averages of 3.00 or better for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The men's soccer and women's volleyball program both posted a 3.00 GPA calculated based on the academic progress of all student-athletes listed on the competition roster. These honors come in line with the record 20 student-athletes named to the individual NJCAA Academic All-America Teams.

This is the fifth honor for the volleyball since 2009. During the fall of 2016, the team saw all eight members land on the Academic All-Region XI team. This is the second year in a row that the men's soccer team has earned this honor.
