Women's Hoops Signs Lotte Van MalsenJuly 13, 2018Marshalltown, IA – Head Coach Steve Garber announced Friday, the addition of Lotte Van Malsen to the women’s basketball team for the 2018-19 season. Van Malsen has played her prep career at Vladas Knasiaus Basketball School in Lithuanian and spent seven years playing for High Five in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Academic All-AmericansJuly 02, 2018Marshalltown, IA - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced its Academic All-Americans with twenty-two Marshalltown Community College (MCC) student athletes making the cut. To receive a Third Team All-American honor student-athletes needed to earn a 3.6-3.79, to earn a Second Team nod students-athletes needed a 3.8-3.99, and to earn First Team All-American honors student athletes needed to earn a 4.0.

2018 Spring Academic All-Region HonoreesJune 15, 2018The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) released the conference’s Academic All-Region honorees last week. Marshalltown Community College had 31 student athletes making the list, with 24 First Team selections and 7 Second Team selections. Academic All-Region honors are based off the student athletes GPA for the designated term, Second Team All-Region student athletes earned GPAs between 3.0 - 3.49 while First Team All-Region student athletes earned GPAs between 3.5 - 4.0. MCC has four athletic teams eligible for the Spring 2018 Academic All-Region honors with men’s basketball (10), women’s basketball (4), baseball (11), and softball (6). Below are MCC’s 2018 Academic All-Region honorees.

Alyssa Roth Signs with Hastings CollegeJune 14, 2018Another women’s basketball player has decided to take her talents to the four-year level as sophomore, Alyssa Roth, has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. Roth was a dynamic player for the Tigers, finishing second in the ICCAC in scoring with 13.1 points per game while also grabbing 5.2 rebounds per game. The 5-7 guard from Clinton, Iowa provided consistent scoring for the Tigers, shooting 41.6% from the field and 35.5 % from behind the three-point arc.

Eva Carballo Signs with TigersMay 29, 2018Marshalltown, IA – The Marshalltown Community College women’s basketball team added a new member to its team Monday as Head Coach Steve Garber announced the signing of Eva Carballo for the 2018-19 season. Carballo is a 5’7 point guard/ off guard who will come to Marshalltown by way of Madrid, Spain. She has played her prep career at the club level, playing for the Femenino Alcorcon’s Club and Olimpico 64.

Women's Basketball Signs Nyadholi DengMay 15, 2018Head women’s basketball Coach, Steve Garber, announced Monday morning the addition of Nyadholi Deng to the Tiger basketball team for the 2018-19 season. Deng played her High School basketball at Des Moines North, finishing 4-16-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the Central Iowa Metropolitan League (CIML). Deng lead the Polar Bears statistically, averaging 10 points per game and grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game.

Claudia Morente Signs with Upper Iowa UniversityApril 30, 2018Claudia Morente, a sophomore on the Marshalltown Community College women’s basketball team, has signed to continue her career at Upper Iowa University. Morente has been a consistent starter for the Tigers the last two years, starting in all 59 games and averaging over 38 minutes a game. The 5’5 guard has been an efficient facilitator of the court while averaging just under ten points per game.

Women's Basketball Signs Danielle SmithApril 26, 2018The MCC women’s basketball team added a new member this week as Danielle Smith committed to joining the Tigers for the 2018-19 season. Smith is a 6’0 post from Citrus County High School in Inverness, Florida. She was a dominant presence on the court during high school, averaging 13.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Danielle was a four year varsity player at Citrus County High School where her teams consistently competed for distract championships.

Loralei Siliga Signs with MACUMarch 28, 2018Marshalltown Community College’s Loralei Siliga will be taking her talents to Oklahoma next year as she recently signed to continue her career at Mid America Christian University (MACU).
