MCC Men’s Soccer team secures 2-0 victory over Hawkeye

The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team claimed a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Hawkeye Community College on Saturday, August 31. In a match that showcased the team's character and determination, the Tigers demonstrated their prowess on both ends of the field.

The scoring opened at the 33-minute mark when Eitan Shaar found the back of the net with an assist from Pedro Costa. The Tigers maintained their pressure throughout the game, and Costa later secured the win with an unassisted goal just four minutes before the final whistle.

MCC goalkeeper Joao Augusto played a pivotal role in the victory, keeping a clean sheet with four crucial saves from eight goal attempts by Hawkeye. His steadfast defense ensured the Tigers left the field with a shutout.

Head Coach, Chris Fuchsen, praised the team's effort, stating, "The boys showed immense character today. They fought for every ball, stayed focused, and executed our game plan perfectly. This win is a testament to their hard work and resilience."

The Tigers will look to build on this momentum on the road as they head to John Wood Community College on Wednesday, September 4.
