The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team continued their strong season with a decisive 4-1 victory over Dakota County Technical College on Sept. 7.
The Tigers controlled the tempo from the beginning, with Alejandro Vientimilla opening the scoring in the 10th minute, assisted by Andres Gutierrez. DCTC managed to equalize in the 26th minute, but the Tigers regained their lead before halftime as Guillerme Nakamura found the net, assisted again by Gutierrez.
In the second half, the Tigers continued their dominance. Nakamura scored his second goal of the match in the 55th minute, assisted by Enrique Cao. Angel Vasquez added to the tally in the 68th minute, with Mikiya Fujii providing the assist.
The Tigers' strong defensive performance and efficient possession helped them maintain control of the game throughout. Despite a momentary lapse in focus that led to the lone goal, the team displayed impressive character and determination.
With the win, the Tigers improved their record to 3-1-1. They will look to build on their momentum as they host Metropolitan Community College on Friday, September 13th at 1 pm.
