Quincy, IL—JeAnn Hiraldo (Ames, IA/Ames) scored 25 points and Accacia Huff (Peoria, IL/Central) recorded a double-double but the Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team fell on the road to John Wood Community College 57-47 Saturday afternoon.
Hiraldo posted her ninth 20-point game of the year and grabbed six rebounds in the loss while Huff scored 11 points and pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds for her second-career double-double. Huff has posted six games of double-digit rebounds, including 30 over her last two contests.
The Tigers got off on the wrong foot as John Wood took a 19-9 lead through the first quarter and built their lead to 35-20 at halftime. MCC outscored the Blazers 27-22 through the final two frames but could not make up for the early deficit.
Victoria Pothast (Melbourne, IA/West Marshall) added seven points and Barbara Araoz (Nequen, Argentina/Maria Auxiliadota) rounded out the scoring with four points.
The Tigers travel to Grand View JV for a 7:00 PM matchup on Jan. 12.
