Tigers drop two against Bears

The MCC softball team (2-9, 0-2) dropped a pair of games to ICCAC foe DMACC 3-2 and 8-3. Thursday's games versus the Bears ended a two week break in action for the Tigers. Recent weather conditions have forced 10 games to be postponed since March 12th.

In the opening game, the Tigers were led offensively by sophomore Marissa Basham (Fort Madison, IA). Basham went three for three, with two singles and a solo shot in the 6th inning. Freshman Alexis Farren (Danville, IA) went two for three with a run scored for MCC.

Sophomore Stacey Roggentein (Marengo, IA) took the pitching loss. Roggentein allowed two runs, three hits and struck out four batters in five innings.

Freshman Kyndal Milder (Columbus Junction, IA) collected two hits in three at bats in the second game for MCC, while sophomore Erica White (Johnston, IA) hit a two run shot in the top of the fifth, recording two RBIs. DMACC never trailed after scoring six runs in the third on two doubles and a three-run home run.

Freshman Taylor Vaske (Marshalltown, IA) went the distance for the Tigers, throwing 6 innings. Vaske gave up 8 runs on 10 hits.

The Tigers will return home Saturday, March 30 for an ICCAC double-header versus NIACC.  First pitch is scheduled 1 pm.
