Enmanuel Lopez named ICCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week

Freshman Enmanuel Lopez (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Prepara) of the Marshalltown Community College Baseball team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Hitter of the Week after leading the Tigers to three wins last week.

Lopez carried the Tigers offensively over the course of five games, posting a .500 batting average after collecting eight hits in 16 at bats. The freshman recorded five extra base hits, including three home runs, while scoring seven runs and driving in nine more. Lopez also walked six times for a .636 on base percentage to go along with a 1.188 slugging percentage.

On Friday against Louisburg College, Lopez went 3-5 with a double, one run scored, and one RBI in a 9-7 win for the Tigers. In game one against Guilford Technical Community College on Saturday, Lopez added two more hits, including a double.

On Sunday, the final day of the North Carolina trip for the team, Lopez smashed two home runs in game one. The freshman scored four runs and added five RBI while walking three times to lift MCC to a 16-7 win. In the series finale, Lopez added his third home run of the day, a three-run shot as the Tigers dropped the Titans 12-2.

On the year, Lopez is batting .500, which ranks second in the ICCAC. His 15 RBI are tied for first in the league and his 1.038 slugging percentage is a conference-best.

The Tigers head to Neosho, MO this weekend for a four-game series with Crowder College, ranked No. 17 in the initial NJCAA Division I Baseball Poll. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM on Saturday.
