Marshalltown Community College Baseball freshman Enmanuel Lopez (Santaigo, Dominican Republic/Prepara) has been named the NJCAA Division I Baseball Player of the Week after powering the Tigers offense to five wins last week.
Lopez, also named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Baseball Player of the Week, currently ranks fifth in the nation with a .518 batting average after going 12-21 at the plate last week. Lopez also ranks sixth in the nation with a .606 on base percentage and his .871 slugging percentage is tied for 15th.
Lopez has hit safely in 22 of the team's 26 games, including the team's last nine. The freshman has totaled 12 multi-hit games, including nine games with at least three hits.
Lopez and the Tigers will take on Iowa Western Community College in ICCAC play this weekend. Originally scheduled to be played at Marshalltown, the series has shifted to Council Bluffs, IA at Doc Ross Field.
