MCC Women’s Basketball Season Preview: Coach Longley Aims for Growth in Year Two

The MCC Women's Basketball Team is ready to embark on a new season, with second-year head coach Dylan Longley at the helm. After a promising first year, Longley is focused on building upon the team's foundation and improving their performance in a challenging ICCAC, Region 11 schedule.

This season, the Tigers are excited to welcome back six key returners, including the dynamic sister duo of Destiny and Mia Sao Martinez. Hailing from Las Vegas, these talented guards bring both skill and leadership to the court. Destiny led the team in scoring last season with an impressive average of 12.6 points per game, while Mia showcased her long-range shooting ability with 55 made three-pointers.

"We've made significant strides since last season, and our returning players have shown great dedication in the off-season," said Coach Longley. "With the addition of new talent, we're looking to create a strong, cohesive unit that can compete at a higher level."

The Tigers are poised to face another challenging slate, beginning with the Iowa Lakes Classic this weekend in Estherville. This early test will set the tone for their season as they look to solidify their teamwork and strategies.

MCC fans can mark their calendars for the first home game on Saturday, November 9th, at 1 pm, when the Tigers host DuPage College. This matchup promises to be an exciting opportunity for the community to rally behind the team as they kick off their home season.

"We're excited to get back on the court and show our growth," Coach Longley added. "We hope to see our fans out in full force as we work towards our goals this year."
