Tigers fall at home to No.4 Iowa Western

Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Volleyball team dropped its first Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) match of the year 3-0 to No. 4 Iowa Western Community College. The Tigers fell by scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 25-15.

The sophomore trio of DaNesha Cowley (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West), Nicole Montgomery (Beaman, IA/BCLUW), and Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) all tallied five kills in the loss. Sara Bisbe (Barcelona, Spain/CV Saint Cugat) posted nine digs and Nina Bales (Lacona, IA/Southeast Warren) assisted on 16 points for the Tigers.

MCC (2-7/0-1) opened up the match on the right side of things as Bales led off with a service ace. The Tigers led early on, but the Reivers (7-2/1-0) proved to be too much and pulled away. MCC fell behind early in set two but stayed in contention behind a pair of kills from Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) and Bisbe. The Reivers once again proved to be too much and finished off the Tigers in straight sets.

The Tigers return to action as the team hosts the 2016 Tiger Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Student Activity Center. For more information regarding the invite, visit the TOURNAMENT HOMEPAGE.
