Sophomore Juan Carlos Gonzalez (Piedra Blanca, Dominican Republic/Salome Urena de Henrriquez) powered the Marshalltown Community College baseball team to an 11-0 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) victory on April 28 and has been named the ICCAC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts.
Gonzalez cruised through all five innings at Indian Hills Community College on Friday as the Tigers ended a four-game losing streak. The sophomore allowed just two hits and struck out six batters to improve to 4-3 on the year.
The left-handed hurler leads the ICCAC with 69 strikeouts on the year and ranks 17th in the nation with 12.59 K/9. The weekly accolade is the second of the season for Gonzalez and third of his career at MCC.
Next up for Gonzalez and the Tigers is a trip to Iowa Western Community College for the team's final four-game ICCAC series before entering postseason play.
