Former Tigers enjoy success in the professional ranks

Former Marshalltown Community College men's basketball players Will Clyburn and Tyler Brown have recently found success playing in the professional ranks both across seas and domestically. Clyburn is playing in Germany for team Ratiopharm of the Bundesliga while Brown was activated by the Maine Red Claws, the NBA's Boston Celtics D-League affiliate on Jan. 31.

Brown returned to the United States after playing for Cholet Basket of the French League. Brown appeared in five games for Cholet and was acquired by the Red Claws on Jan. 22. The guard has appeared in seven games so far, averaging 7.6 points in 14.5 minutes of action while playing alongside former NBA player Marshon Brooks and former Iowa State Cyclone Chris Babb.

Brown was a two-time NJCAA Division I All-American at Marshalltown before transferring to Illinois State University. Brown was acquired by the San Antonio Spurs for the 2013 NBA Summer League before heading off to France.

Clyburn, who was a member of the Tigers from 2008-2010, was acquired by the Sacramento Kings for the 2013 NBA Summer League, but signed with Ratiopharm in July. The former two-time Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) selection is currently averaging 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Clyburn has reached double-figures in seven games this year and is averaging 14.6 points per game over his last five contests. Clyburn posted career-highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds, his first professional double-double on Feb. 2

Clyburn was also selected to participate in the 2014 Beko Basketball Bundesliga Dunk Contest during All Star weekend. One of Clyburn's dunks can be seen below.
