Sherman Blanford signs pro contract in Luxembourg

Sherman Blanford, a two-year standout for the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team from 2010-2012, has signed a professional contract to play for Sparta Bertrange in Luxembourg. Blanford finished up his collegiate career at Eastern Illinois University.

Sparta Bertrange plays in the Total Leauge, also known as National 1, the top level of competition in Luxembourg. Blanford signed with Pro Partner Sports Management to oversee his professional career.

In two years at MCC, Blanford averaged 11.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Region XI Honorable Mention team as a freshman after leading the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) in rebounding. At EIU, Blanford averaged 12.4 points and 7.2 rebounds during his career as a Panther, earning All-Ohio Valley Conference and All-NABCA District 19 Second Team honors.

A Philadelphia, PA native, Blanford totaled 1,394 points and 835 rebounds in his collegiate career.
