Tigers fall to St. Louis on final night of Meskwaki Classic

Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team dropped its Saturday night contest to St. Louis Community College 76-54 on the final night of the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel Classic. Alyssa Roth (Clinton, IA/Northeast) led the Tigers with 12 points off the bench.

MCC fell behind early as the Archers took a 19-13 lead through the first quarter. The Tigers stayed in contention in the second frame and trailed by just seven, 34-27 at intermission. St. Louis heated up in the second half to pull away for the victory. The Tigers fall to 0-2 on the year.

Roth came off the bench to hit six of nine shots from the floor and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman Loralei Siliga (Euless, TX/San Leandro) added 11 points for MCC and grabbed five boards. Freshmen Claudia Morente (Girona, Spain/Institut Juame Vicens Vives) and Kiana Weston (Skokie, IL/Niles North) each tallied eight points in the loss for MCC.

MCC shot 40.3 percent from the floor, but connected on just two of 13 three-point shots. The Tigers' primary scoring threat came from the post where MCC scored 38 points.

Next up for the Tigers is a home game with Iowa Central Community College at 7:00 PM on Nov. 16.
