Marshalltown, IA – The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team dropped its Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opener at home to Iowa Western Community College 71-50 on Saturday night.
Alyssa Roth (Clinton, IA/Northeast) led the Tigers with 13 points while Estelle Eduardo (Villeurbanne, France/Lycee Ernest Couteaux) added 11. Loralei Siliga (Euless, TX/San Leandro) chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.
The Tigers kept things close in the opening quarter, trailing by just four, 13-9 at the end of the frame. The Reivers pulled away for a 34-23 halftime lead. MCC cut the deficit to single digits midway through the fourth quarter, but failed to upset the Reivers.
Next up for MCC is a home game against Grand View JV at 6:00 PM on Jan. 24.
