The MCC women's basketball team traveled to Keokuk, Iowa to take on the Blackhawks of Southeastern Community College. The Blackhawks entered the game 2-2 as they won their previous two games defeating Carl Sandburg College and Lewis & Clark Community College. Tuesday night the Tigers would fall to the Blackhawks 56-47.
Both teams started the game slow, as both teams could not get shots to fall in the first quarter. At halftime the Tigers would lead the Blackhawks 26-20 with help from Loralei Siliga's 12 first half points. The Tigers had trouble scoring coming out of halftime as the Blackhawks surged to take a nine-point lead going into the fourth quarter. The Tigers could not dig into the lead in the fourth quarter as both teams scored 11 points to give the Blackhawks the 56-47 victory.
The Tigers top performers on the night were Loralei Siliga and Ryan Roberts. Siliga would end the night going 9-20 from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line for 23 points. Roberts would go 3-7 from the field making 3-4 three pointers for nine points on the night. Defensively Alyssa Roth recorded 10 rebounds but the leading scorer for the Tigers could not get her shots to drop as she ended the night going 1-9 for two points.
The 2-3 Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they take on Central Community College at 5:00 in the Student Activity Center. Both men and women's teams will compete this weekend in the Emerson Classic. MCC women will play at 5:00 both Friday and Saturday with the MCC Men following at 7:00 both nights.
