MCC women’s basketball splits over weekend

Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team traveled to Mason City to compete in the Konigsmark Klassicat NIACC. The Tigers came away with a win 75-53 win over Ellsworth Community College and a 91-38 lost to NIACC.

In Friday's win over ECC, sophomore Tiger Dana Stokes led the team with 25 points. She was followed by Laurin Lyons who had 17 points and also contributed four steals. Danielle Smith led the team in rebounds with 13 and also had four steals. Eva Carballo had 10 boards for the Tigers in the game too.

The Tigers struggled shooting in the game against NIACC. Stokes once again led the team with 16 points. She also led the Tigers with eight rebounds. Lyons and Eva Zaragoza followed close behind with seven rebounds each.

A change in the schedule has the Tigers playing at home tonight in their home season opener against Southwestern Community College. Tip-off will be at 6 pm.
