Tiger women drop two at home

The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team hosted two games the week of Jan. 20 and found similar results stemming from the offensive end.

Tuesday, Jan. 21 they hosted William Penn JV struggling in scoring as no player entered the double-digit category. Poor shooting percentage only resulted in 44 points for the game. High scorer for the Tigers was Eva Carballo with nine points in the 79-44 loss.

On Saturday, Jan. 25, scoring was a little better as MCC came out in the first quarter against Iowa Central with 18 points and leading by two. However, the second and third quarters were challenging as they only scored seven and eight points respectively to go behind and lose 53-75 to Iowa Central.

Laurin Lyons lead the team in scoring with 16 points and Dana Stokes added 12 points. "We continue to struggle on the offensive end as our percentages from 3-point line and from the field are not allowing us to compete as well as we would like," commented MCC Head Coach Steve Garber.

The Tigers will be at home their next two games hosing DMACC on Monday, Jan. 27 at 6 pm and Iowa Western on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 5 pm.
