MCC women open after break with a win

The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team hasn't played a game since Dec. 11 due to the holiday break. They opened up the second half of their season with a 94-43 win on Tuesday, Jan. 7 over Graceland University JV.

The Tigers went into the half with a 51-19 lead over the Yellowjackets and continued to hit their shots for the rest of the game. Dana Stokes was 6-7 from the field leading the Tigers with 19 points. Eva Carballo was a perfect 3-3 from the three point range and followed in scoring with 17 points. Two other Tigers were in double figures. Carla Collado with 11 and Eva Zaragoza with 10. The Tigers shot 52% from the 3-point line on 12-23 shooting accuracy. 

Zaragoza also led MCC in rebounds with 11 boards.

MCC will be on the road Monday and Wednesday this week, opening up conference play at Iowa Western Wednesday and hosting NE Nebraska on Saturday at 5 pm as a first game of a double-header with the men.
