Tiger women split at Emerson Classic

Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team hosted the Emerson Classic on Nov. 15 and 16. The Tiger women went 1 and 1 defeating DMACC 68 to 64 and losing to Iowa Lakes 72 to 49. The Tigers record after the weekend was 2-6. 

In the win over DMACC sophomore Eva Carballo lead the Tigers in both scoring and rebounding. She tallied 19 points and added nine rebounds, six assists, and six steals and going three of three from the three point line. Sophomore Laurin Lyons also contributed 16 points and six rebounds to the contest hitting three threes and adding five free throws to her total. Sophomore Dana Stokes and freshman Nuria Castillo each contributed ten points in the Tiger victory.

The Tigers faced a tough opponent in the Lakers from Iowa Lakes in game two for the Tigers of the Emerson Classic.

The Tigers got a solid performance from Lyons who tallied 14 points in the game, getting most of them from the free throw line going six of eight and hitting two threes on the contest. The Tigers also had solid contributions from sophomore Eva Carballo who tallied nine points and Castillo who added eight, hitting two three pointers.
