Academic All-AmericansJuly 02, 2018Marshalltown, IA - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced its Academic All-Americans with twenty-two Marshalltown Community College (MCC) student athletes making the cut. To receive a Third Team All-American honor student-athletes needed to earn a 3.6-3.79, to earn a Second Team nod students-athletes needed a 3.8-3.99, and to earn First Team All-American honors student athletes needed to earn a 4.0.

2018 Spring Academic All-Region HonoreesJune 15, 2018The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) released the conference’s Academic All-Region honorees last week. Marshalltown Community College had 31 student athletes making the list, with 24 First Team selections and 7 Second Team selections. Academic All-Region honors are based off the student athletes GPA for the designated term, Second Team All-Region student athletes earned GPAs between 3.0 - 3.49 while First Team All-Region student athletes earned GPAs between 3.5 - 4.0. MCC has four athletic teams eligible for the Spring 2018 Academic All-Region honors with men’s basketball (10), women’s basketball (4), baseball (11), and softball (6). Below are MCC’s 2018 Academic All-Region honorees.

Six Tigers Earn All-Region RecognitionMay 15, 2018The MCC baseball season has come to an end after the team finished third in the Region XI Tournament on May 12th. While the season did not finish as they had hoped, this year’s Tiger squad was full of individual talent, as six Tigers were selected for All-Region honors.

Tigers Season Comes to an End in CentervilleMay 12, 2018The Marshalltown Community College baseball team competed in their second day of the Region XI Division I Baseball Tournament on Saturday, taking on the Reivers of Iowa Western and the Falcons of Indian Hills Community College. After the Tigers upset the Falcons Friday afternoon, they advanced, setting up the quarterfinal showdown with the #2 team in the country. The Tigers would drop both games on Saturday afternoon, closing out the 2018 season.

Tigers Upset Falcons in First Round of Regional PlayMay 11, 2018Centerville, IA – The Marshalltown Community College baseball team entered the Region XI Baseball Tournament 8-32 and 6-18 in conference play. Their 6-18 conference record earned the Tigers the third seed in the tournament, taking on the 34-20 second seeded Falcons of Indian Hills Community College. The Tigers were 1-7 against the Falcons this season, but were able to pull off the upset, winning 10-5 and advancing to game four.

Region XI Tournament PreviewMay 08, 2018With the regular season finished, the MCC baseball team now sets its sights on the Region XI Tournament. After finishing the season 6-18 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), the Tigers hold the third seed in the tournament and will take on the Falcons of Indian Hills Community College in the first round. With the tournament beginning on Friday, May 11, we take a look at the four Division I teams.

Tigers Fall to FalconsMay 06, 2018The MCC baseball team hosted the Falcons of Indian Hills Community College in ICCAC doubleheaders at Shawn Williams Field on May 5th and 6th. The Tigers were unable to pick up a win conference against their conference rival and currently sit at 8-32 on the season.

0-4 in Weekend Conference PlayApril 29, 2018The Marshalltown Community College baseball team traveled to Council Bluffs, Iowa on Saturday for a four game ICCAC series. The Tigers entered the weekend with a 6-10 conference record and looked to make headway. The #7 Reivers were 38-5 and a perfect 16-0 in the conference and extended their perfect conference record, taking all four games against the Tigers.

A Shot to the Dome Brings the Winning Run HomeApril 25, 2018The MCC baseball team hosted the Spartans of Southwestern Community College at Shawn Williams Field on Wednesday afternoon to close off their eight game conference slate. Entering Wednesday’s games the Tigers held a 4-2 record over the Spartans, going 3-1 the past weekend. The Tiger split with the Spartans Wednesday afternoon, dropping the first game and taking the second game in dramatic fashion.

Trojans Take Tigers in FiveApril 24, 2018The MCC baseball team traveled to Mason City, Iowa on Tuesday morning to play a single nine-inning game against the Trojans of North Iowa Are Community College. The Tigers fell 17-9 to the Trojans back on April 20, and failed to pick up the win, falling 11-0 Tuesday afternoon.

Tigers Go 3-1 Against SWiCCApril 22, 2018The MCC baseball team hosted the Spartans of Southwestern Community College in ICCAC doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The Tigers were able to go 3-1 in the four game series at Shawn Williams Field.

Tigers go 1-3 against the Falcons of Indian HillsApril 13, 2018The MCC baseball team hit the road Thursday morning, traveling to Centerville, Iowa for ICCAC doubleheaders against Indian Hills Community College on Thursday and Friday. The Tigers have struggled in conference play so far this season, splitting with Southeastern early in the season and dropping four games to Iowa Western. Indian Hills entered Thursday’s doubleheader with an 18-12 record, and 4-4 in conference play.

While enjoying the warmer weather, they took on Delgado Community College in a three game series on Sunday and Monday. The Tigers dropped all three games of the series, falling 15-0, 8-0, and 11-1.
