The MCC Athletic Department is pleased to announce, sophomore forward Mohamed Thiam has been named MCC's Male Athlete of the Month. The 6'9 forward from Dakar Senegal, has had a tremendous month, scoring 128 points and grabbing 87 rebounds in eight games. Thiam recorded three double doubles during the month of January, averaging 16 points and just over nine rebounds a game. Thiam's efficiency has been on display all season long, with a season shooting percentage north of 44%.

"Mohamed is a special player," stated Head Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson. "He has a great skill set that makes him very difficult to guard. He moves well for someone as big as he is and has a great mind for the game. He continues to surprise us every game."

Thiam and the rest of the men's basketball team will be in action Saturday, February 3 when they travel to Burlington, Iowa to take on the Blackhawks of Southeastern. The Tigers will try to add another conference win that eluded them in January when the Blackhawks defeated the Tigers 71-66 at home.
