MCC women’s basketball adds two

The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team has signed two new players to add to their upcoming season roster.

Heeni Blakey also from New Zealand is a 5'6 shooting guard. She averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per game.

"Heeni will be a key scorer for us this coming season as she has accuracy from the 3-point line and can find seams to get to the basket. Her ability to score deep will help spread the floor for others to operate more efficiently."

Waiaaria Rogers from New Zealand is a 5'4 point guard. She averages 13 points, three assists and four steals per game. She was 72% from the free-throw line before coming to MCC and looks to provide leadership on the Tiger court.

"We expect Wai to come in and take one of the ball-handling reigns leading into the 2021 basketball season," commented MCC Head Coach Steve Garber. "Her ability to shoot and create for others are welcome skills along with her competitive drive on the defensive end. We hope she can be one of the one-two punches playing alongside her native-country teammate for this upcoming season."
