Tigers lose to #15 DMACC

The Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team traveled to Boone for the rubber match against the #15 ranked DMACC Bears on Thursday, Feb. 25th. The Tigers would ultimately fall to the Bears 76 to 53 dropping the Tigers to 1-8 on the reason and giving the Tigers their 8th straight loss.

The Tigers were in a hole from the start trailing 21 to 6 after the first quarter, and then down 38 to 17 going into the half. The Tigers would then use a big run coming out of the locker room the beginning of the third quarter started with a pair of back-to-back Eva Zaragoza 3's that would allow the Tigers to cut into the lead and would find them trailing 57 to 38. It was then that the Bears would clamp down and only allow the Tigers to get as close as 16 points.

The Tigers were lead in scoring by the three-person attack of Heeni Blakey, Nuria Castillo, and Genet Mebratu, who all finished with 10 points each. Freshman Carolina Rodriquez-Sanchez would finish with 7 points but would add another double-digit rebound performance bringing down 10 rebounds. A stat filling night best describes the game Carla Dorta-Perez put together as she would score 4 points, but was key adding 7 rebounds to go along with 6 assists. Team leading scorer Zaragoza would finish with 6 points being limited to small minutes because of foul trouble.

The Tigers travel to take on Iowa Lakes on Saturday, Feb. 27th for a 1 pm tip-off.
