MCC soccer starts conference play

Marshalltown Community College went 1-1 this past week starting conference action.

Wednesday, Sept. 18 the Tigers played at NIACC, winning 6-2. Five different players scored including: Kazuki Kimura, Matheus Pereira, Seiya Zen, and Kenlove Solon each with one goal and Jiroh Hatano with 2 goals. Matteo Crescente was the goalkeeper, making two saves.

On Saturday, Sept. 21 MCC traveled to take on Iowa Lakes, losing 4-3. They started in a dominating fashion, leading 3-1 at half but two goals from penalty kicks and a final goal with seven minutes remaining turned things around. Goals were scored by Kimura, Guilherme Pereira and Augusto Cunha. Crescente had six saves.

The Tigers will be at home the next two games hosting Indian Hills on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 3 pm and Iowa Central on Saturday, Sept. 28. MCC Head Coach Rafael Martinez commented, "These are two very challenging opponents that will require our best possible performance."
