Tiger baseball splits with Three Rivers

MARSHALLTOWN – Tiger baseball traveled to Poplar Bluff, MO this past weekend, splitting in a four-game series 2-2 with Three Rivers Community College.

In game one a 5th inning charge by the Raiders lead them past the Tigers in seven innings. Jackson Stephen (0-2) took the loss while Ronnie Nowak went 1-4 with 1 RBI. The Tigers fell 4-1.

The Raiders took the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning in the second game, 1-0. A rally late in the game by the Tigers had them scoring nine runs in the last three innings to get the 9-1 win. Sam Tyrpa (1-1) pitched seven innings, one earned run and five strikeouts. Ernesto Moreno hit a three-run home run in the 5th to extend the lead 4-1 and the Tigers never looked back. 

Tigers scored four runs in the 4th to hold off the Raiders' late charge in game three. Edwin De Los Santos Moreno (2-0) pitched six innings, one earned run and seven strikeouts while Brock Hatlan got his second save of the year! Three Tiger hitters had multi-hit games with five walks and three RBI's. Tigers took the game with a 4-3 win.

Game 4 of the weekend was the closest game of the series. Two runs in the top of the 7th for the Tigers wouldn't hold off the Raiders' walk-off in the bottom of the inning. Nolan Vlcek (0-2) took the loss on the day. Tigers had eight hits and three runs and a final score of 4-3 for the loss.
