Jasmin Howe named ICCAC Player of the Week

Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) of the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team shot the lights out last week, connecting on 65.9 percent of her shots to earn this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week honor.

The sophomore led the Tigers to a 2-1 record last week, with the team's lone loss coming as a one-point defeat to Des Moines Area Community College. The Tigers defeated Highland Community College 89-56 and Iowa Lakes Community College 72-61.

Against Highland on Dec. 15, Howe scored the game's first 13 points and completed the night with her third career double-double, scoring a-then season-high 26 points and pulling down a career-best 13 rebounds. Howe continued her hot stretch scoring 21 points against the Lakers on Dec. 17. The sophomore capped off the week with a new season-high 29 points in the 72-71 loss to DMACC on Jan. 3.

For the week, Howe shot 29-44 from the floor while hitting 64.7 percent of her three-point shots and sank 87.5 percent of her free throws. Howe also averaged 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists to boost her resume.

Howe currently leads all ICCAC Division I players with 17.3 points per game while also topping the leaderboard with an 84.1 percent free throw percentage, 52.8 percent field goal percentage, and ranks second with a 46.7 three-point percentage.

The Tigers return to action at the Student Activity Center on Wednesday night for a non-conference matchup against Kirkwood Community College at 5:30 PM.
