Howe lights up Penn Valley to lead MCC to 74-48 win

Kansas City, MO—Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) continued to scorch MCC-Penn Valley as the sophomore scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team to a 74-48 victory over the Scouts on Friday night. The Tigers have won each of the last four meetings between the teams over the last two seasons.

In four career games against the Scouts, Howe has averaged 20.3 points per contest, including three games of at least 23 points. The sophomore connected on all seven of her two point attempts on the night and finished the game shooting 10-15 from the floor. Howe also added six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks to fill the stat sheet.

JeAnn Hiraldo (Ames, IA/Ames) added 14 points and Sammie Sproul (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) chipped in 13. Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds in the win.

The Tigers (13-9) jumped out to a 36-24 lead at halftime over the home team and carried their strong performance into the second half to drop the Scouts for the second time this year. The Tigers also defeated Penn Valley 84-57 at the Student Activity Center on Jan. 14.

In the last four wins over the Scouts, the Tigers are outscoring Penn Valley by an average of 26.3 points per game while limiting their counterpart to just 51.0 points per contest.

The Tigers return home to take on Des Moines Area Community College at 5:00 PM on Feb. 2 as part of a doubleheader with the MCC men's basketball team who will host Iowa Central Community College at 7:00 PM.
