Ilsie Calles signs with Lindenwood University-Belleville

Former Marshalltown Community College women's basketball player Ilsie Calles (Van Nuys, CA/Fulton Prep) has signed a National Letter of Intent with Lindenwood University- Belleville for the 2015-16 season.

Calles was a two-year member of the MCC women's basketball team, finishing her career after the 2014-15 season. Calles appeared in all 61 games for the Tigers the last two seasons and scored 339 total points and grabbed 116 rebounds.

Calles reflected on her time as a Tiger. "MCC was a great experience for me. I enjoyed the fact that everyone at MCC was extremely supportive and they were always available if you needed help. The staff and small classes really made it easier for me to focus on my education."

On the court, Calles was a consistent contributor on both ends of the floor. "My experience with basketball at MCC," Calles continued, "helped me become both a better player and teammate."

Lindenwood, a NAIA institution, is located in Belleville, IL. The Lady Lynx compete in the American Midwest Conference. Lindenwood- Belleville finished the 2014-15 season with a 17-14 mark and went 16-8 in conference play

"I chose Lindenwood," Calles expressed, "because it's given me the best opportunity to continue to do what I love. I look forward to the experiences Lindenwood has to offer."

MCC head coach Steve Garber commended Calles for her commitment and dedication to the sport over her career as a Tiger. "I am extremely happy to have found Ilsie a home where she will be appreciated. No one worked harder during her last two years here to improve her basketball skills. Her positive attitude and leadership skills will be sorely missed here, however, will provide Lindenwood with the same. As a player who did not receive a whole lot of playing time at MCC, it is a testament to her heart and attitude that she found a home for the next two years to finish her playing career and receive her education."

Calles joins former teammate Jasmin Howe as members of the 2014-15 MCC Tigers to move on. Howe will play at Northwest Missouri State University.
