Howe lands second ICCAC Player of the Week award

Sophomore Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) carried the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team to a 59-41 upset victory over then-No. 4 Iowa Western Community College on Saturday, and has been rewarded with this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Player of the Week award. Howe and the Tigers went 3-0 last week.

In the team's first-ever ICCAC Division I contest, Howe poured in 15 first half points as the Tigers dominated the Reivers from the opening tip. Howe knocked down four three-pointers on the night and knocked down all eight of her free throw attempts to finish the night with 22 points while playing all 40 minutes.

The sophomore needed just 24 minutes of action to score 26 points against MCC-Penn Valley Wednesday night as Howe shot 11-18 from the floor to give the Tigers an 84-57 win. MCC opened up the week at home with a 67-51 victory over Grand View JV on Monday night, with Howe scoring 12 points and pulling down seven rebounds.

Howe continues to lead the ICCAC in a multitude of categories, including points per game (17.7), field goal percentage (51.1), three-point percentage (44.6), and free-throw percentage (86.4).

This is the second Player of the Week award for Howe after winning the honor on Jan. 6.

The Tigers travel to Northeast Community College for a conference battle on the road. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
