Cold shooting dooms Tiger women in Norfolk

Cold shooting doomed the Tiger Women's Basketball team as they traveled to Norfolk, NE this past Saturday, Jan. 23, to take on the Northeast Community College Hawks.

The Tigers, who were led by Assistant Coach Cody Freland, started off the cold streak in the first quarter where the Tigers had multiple good looks to start but could not find the bottom of the net shooting. They shot 3 of 15 from the field and 1 of 8 from the 3-point range to start the game and were down 26 to 7 after the first. The cold shooting did not stop from there as the Tigers would only shoot 16 of 56 from the field and 8 of 31 from the 3-point line. The Hawks didn't seem to miss while shooting 52 percent from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line and the Tigers weren't able to recover from the poor shooting night.

The Tigers had another solid performance from sophomore Eva Zaragoza as she looked to shoot more from the outside and also attack down low scoring 14 points in the contest. Also having another solid game though being keyed on by the Hawks most of the game Heeni Blakey tallied 9 points getting those points from the 3-point line.

The Tigers travel to Iowa Falls next to take on Ellsworth on Wednesday, February 3rd with a 5 pm tip-off.
