Women's basketball 2020-21 season wrap-up

The Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball 2020-21 season came to an end in the First Round of the ICCAC Region Tournament, losing to the eventually runner-up Northeast Community College on April 3rd

This concluded the 8th season for Head Coach Steve Garber, who finished the season at 1 and 17. It was a season of ups and downs for the program, who at the beginning of the spring season were the youngest team amongst all of the ICCAC teams. Gaining three players over the break and having to integrate them caused some challenges for the team as not being able to build the chemistry in the fall like other teams. Also losing three games to COVID, with a couple being NIACC who were under a new coaching staff, the Tigers felt was a team they could compete with.

The bright spot of the roster was the jump of sophomore Eva Zaragoza who was the team's leading scorer and almost making a five point per game increase from her freshman campaign, while also improving all across the board on offense and defense.

The Tigers lose sophomores Zaragoza and Nuria Castillo and have many questions to answer on the roster. They will be making the transition back to Division II for the 21-22 season, along with other Division I teams Iowa Western and Northeast. This presents the Tiger program to be able to compete in a tough conference and to host many good games.
