Tiger women lose at home to Panthers

The Tigers Women's Basketball team found themselves in a rough shooting night as they welcomed the Ellsworth Panthers on Tuesday, Feb. 23rd. The Tigers would find themselves on the losing end of the contest 63 to 49 after leading for the majority of the first half.

The Tigers struggled to put together a full forty-minute contest, which has plagued them for most of the season. Shooting 30 percent from the field and making only 3 three-pointers on the contest signaled the struggles that gave the Panthers the momentum to pull ahead in the second half, and the Tigers weren't able to recover.

It was a double-double night for Eva Zaragoza who would finish the contest with 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Tigers in both categories. Nuria Castillo would continue the strong scoring from the Iowa Central game though the shots did not seem to fall late and would finish with 11 points. Carla Dorta-Perez had it going early, taking advantage of attacking the rim on the Panthers' Ellie Barrows trying to get her into foul trouble early. She would cool down in the second half and finish the contest with 9 points. The Tigers welcomed back their best three-point threat in Waiaaria Rogers, who had missed the past four contests for the Tigers, and added 7 points off the bench in the loss.

The Tigers will be back in action as they take on 15th ranked DMACC Lady Bears in Boone on Thursday, Feb. 25th, with a 5 pm tip-off.
